In today’s news round-up, SourceSecurity.com recently attended Avigilon’s Video Analytics launch event in London. The event included a presentation on the latest products in the analytics range, the HD Video Appliance Series. In corporate news, Hikvision and Western Digital hosted a joint video surveillance seminar in Dubai last month. The seminar was held to promote the latest technologies from both companies: Hikvision’s Turbo HD Analogue Solution and WD’s Purple hard drives.

In application news, ASSA ABLOY, Access Control’s Aperio® wireless locking technology has been installed at Manchester Central Library. Grantfen Fire and Security were selected to provide a Genetec Security Centre unified platform, which has been integrated with the Aperio® solution. Over in India, Matrix will showcase its range of Access Control, Time-Attendance and Video Surveillance Solutions at IFSEC India 2014. Products on display will include the COSEC ARC, a unique IP based access control panel. In corporate news, Sargent and Greenleaf has appointed Brian Leary as Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Brian will provide strategic leadership and day-to-day operational management for Sargent and Greenleaf. In today’s news round-up, Vicon has named Bret McGowan as Senior Vice-President Sales for the Americas, Far East and Western Africa. Following Vicon’s ongoing integration with IQinVision, Bret will take responsibility for the combined sales organisation. In application news, Raytec has installed its VARIO i8-3 infrared lighting solution for a residential client in Vancouver. The illuminators deliver enhanced, even illumination allowing camera systems to provide the very best images at night.

In other corporate news, Wavestore and Ogier Electronics have entered into a technology partnership. The two companies’ respective solutions are now being specified together for video surveillance projects networked using Ogier’s microwave transmission solutions. Over in the US, Galaxy Control Systems has appointed David Terrill as Global Application Engineer for the West. David will lead dealer training and technical support programs, as well as on-site training and technical support initiatives. In events news, Meyertech will demonstrate its FUSION-Eclipse video management software at Milipol 2014 in Qatar from 20th-22nd October.
