In today’s news round-up, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has suggested  that electronic security systems – particularly CCTV – are playing a more prominent role in maintaining a safe and lawful public environment. Since last year’s London riots, the BSIA has found that CCTV systems have been crucial in the apprehension of many of those involved. Samsung Techwin Europe has announced the signing of a new distribution agreement with Norbain SD Limited. This news follows an earlier announcement that Norbain’s UK operation has been acquired by Newbury Investments (UK) Ltd. In other corporate news, Idesco has welcomed Jens Holmberg, who has filled the position of Business Manager for Idesco AB.

Over in the Middle East, Complete Pixel begins operations this month in the Middle East region. The new company’s entry into the security products marketplace represents a brand new business model for manufacturer representation in the industry.
