In today’s news round-up, Cobham successfully deployed its SOLO 4 Wireless Transmitter and PRORXB receive system for live television coverage of the Abu Dhabi Yacht Club’s Ghanada Dhow Sailing Championship on 7 June. In conjunction with GloCom SNG, Cobham installed transmitters on two race event chase boats, a helicopter, a receive and transmit ship and onshore receive systems at the ADYC headquarters and ‘Nation Towers’. In events news, the list of attendees for NCT CBRNe Europe is growing. NCT CBRNe Europe, which will take place in Germany, will provide in-depth knowledge on interoperability of CBRN Special Forces in Europe, SOPs and new approaches.

In application news, Guide Dogs Victoria (GDV) of Australia has chosen IndigoVision’s solution to help monitor its whelping and birthing suites. A combination of IndigoVision’s BX cameras, Control Center Software and a Compact NVR were deployed to create a system offering High Definition video locally on site, while allowing staff to view a Standard Definition stream remotely. The company has also recently installed PTZ and fixed dome cameras at the Grand Baie La Croisette complex in Mauritius. The wide dynamic range and automatic mechanical day/night infra-red filter of the cameras allow them to deliver high quality footage in spite of the differing lighting conditions. Finally, Gordon Brady has been appointed Chief Operating Officer at The Shield Group. As Chief Operating Officer, Gordon will be responsible for The Shield Group’s manpower operations across the UK and Europe. In today’s news round-up, Samsung Techwin has recruited three Video over IP experts to support the company’s ongoing success in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). Stefan Palenkov and Steven Trace have been appointed to perform pre-sales and technical support roles, and Nicolas Ullrich has joined the Samsung Techwin DACH team as Business Development Manager. In other corporate news, SALTO Systems is moving its UK operation to bigger offices in Southam, Warwickshire to accommodate the continuing growth of the business. As part of the move, SALTO Systems has taken the opportunity to incorporate a new state-of-the-art meeting, training and product XSperience centre which will be used for internal staff, partner and end user training courses.

In events news, Cobham has exhibited at this year’s Broadcast Asia, the APAC region’s premier broadcast event. The products on display included Cobham’s new HD MPEG4 IP Encoder, MediaMesh, an IP-based, rapid set-up field newsroom and the SOLO range of broadcast transmitters. Over in Brazil, Scati has opened its Brazilian subsidiary in São Paulo. Scati has transferred Miguel A.
