In today’s news round-up, HID Global recently announced the addition of new strategic partners who have joined the company’s Enterprise Application Partners programme, further expanding the ecosystem of available products that are powered by award-winning Seos technology. In application news, Caterham High School in the UK has recently installed a remotely monitored security system supplied by specialist infrared CCTV supplier, Basson Group. The products fitted were from Basson’s range of long-distance IR cameras, monitored by Kent-based CCTV and Alarm Monitoring company, FLR Spectron.

In events news, Matrix will be at Secutech Thailand to showcase its complete portfolio of security products encompassing range of access control, time-attendance and video surveillance solutions. Matrix will also launch its SATATYA HVR series, a single solution for IP and analogue surveillance needs. In other events news, the Gulf Traffic exhibition will be taking place in Dubai from 8th – 10th December. Navtech Radar will be at the show to exhibit its unique ClearWay Automatic Incident Detection (AID) system, which provides vehicle and pedestrian incident detection. In today’s news round-up, Avigilon has appointed Central Security Distribution as its official distributor for the Australian market. CSD will now offer the complete range of Avigilon’s products and solutions to this market. In application news, Milestone video surveillance software is helping to manage traffic activities in Galway City, Ireland. Galway City Council has deployed Milestone XProtect Smart Client to manage all cameras across a large video wall, including pant-tilt-zoom (PTZ) control and zoom for detailed views of live and recorded video. In addition, Milestone Mobile has proved perfect for supporting staff using tablets and smartphones.

In other application news, The Calico Group, a leading housing group in East Lancashire, has contracted Connexion2 to provide its award-winning and ACPO accredited Identicom lone worker device (LWD). Connexion2 has supplied a total of 150 Identicom devices to Calico including a number of units with “Man Down” detection. Over in Morocco, G4S has signed a new contract with the Tangier Med Port Authority and Tangier Med Special Agency to deliver a broad range of integrated security solutions. The three-year contract, worth approximately £10 million in total turnover, will see G4S protect the port’s assets, commodities and people. Finally, Axis Security will provide Wulfrun shopping centre in the UK with 228 weekly manned guarding hours. At the top of the security news pile today, the Brazilian Federal Police has announced the deployment of a TETRAPOL IP network from EADS Defence and Security in the state of Ceara. The hosts of INDESEC Expo 2010 have declared the event, which focussed on security solutions for the government of India, a “grand success”.

In the UK, Bedford Borough Council has implemented an X-Series platform from Mirasys Ltd to monitor its CCTV infrastructure, while Exacq has announced the integration of its video surveillance software with SANYO’s high definition cameras. It was a big week for Vicon Industries, as its PTZ dome cameras were deployed as  “beach cams” in the Floridian resort of Sarasota, broadcasting 24-hour footage to show potential tourists that the resort remains unaffected by the BP oil spill. British aluminium and stainless steel firm Richard Austin Alloys received a return on its investment in MOBOTIX’s CCTV system, according to a report from the megapixel camera manufacturer.

VIDEOR grabbed a gong for “Security Partner of the Year 2009” from Axis, for being its most successful distributor in EMEA. HID Global announced plans to show its physical access control solutions at IFSEC South Africa 2010.
