In today’s news round-up, Kelvin Hughes has been named the winner of the Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards 2014 in the Made in Herts category. Kelvin Hughes was recognised at the awards ceremony for its contribution to local commerce and community since the company’s move to Enfield in August 2012. In application news, Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham has chosen Castel to supply an IP-video intercom solution throughout its large modern hospital estate. The hospital required an intercom system that was future-proof and which had a range of intercom stations to provide solutions for different areas of the estate.

In events news, UTC Building & Industrial Systems is launching new video recording and management solutions at IFSEC 2014. UTC will introduce TruVision TVN 10, a plug-and-play entry-level network video recorder (NVR) featuring megapixel resolution. Over in Northern Ireland, alcohol and drug treatment charity Addiction NI has chosen to equip its staff with Guardian24’s lone working personal safety smartphone application. With the increase in lone working visits, Addiction NI decided they needed extra support to safeguard their workers at all times. Dahua’s full range of network cameras, including Dahua Pan–tilt–zoom (PTZ) domes will now be integrated with Synology NVRs. In corporate news, DVTEL INC. has announced that its full product line is now available to members of PSA Security Networkan organisation encompassing more than 200 electronic security systems integrators and over 150 vendor partners. 

In application news, Esrange Space Centre, a rocket range and research centre located above the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden, has chosen Axis Communications’ cameras to give it a better overview of on-site operations and improve safety. In the UK, the operation centre for Southeastern Trains located in Ramsgate, Kent has deployed Castel’s CAP IP V1B intercom at the gates and barriers of its Engineering Depot.
