In today’s news weekly round-up, research undertaken by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has revealed that its members consider the security industry to be a viable career option for those with a disability. A new report from IMS Research has found that the transition to IP-based technology in the security industry is changing the role of its systems integrators. The report has predicted that the world market for systems integration will grow at an average rate of almost 10% to 2016.

In today’s news round-up, the recently concluded IFSEC India and Homeland Security India 2012 ended on a highly successful note at the India Expo Centre. The three-day exposition attracted close to 250 exhibitors from over 20 countries. Also in events news, IFSEC South Africa has won the 2012 EXSA Award for the Best Trade Exhibition in the 6,000-12,000sq.m. category. Next week in the Middle East, Vemotion will be bringing live video at the IFSEC & OSH Arabia International Conference and Exhibition for Industrial Security 2012. Vemotion Interactive, specialists in live video transmission over low bandwidth connections, will be represented by local partner Al-Torath International Trading.

Also in corporate news, OnSSI has announced enhanced integration of its flagship Ocularis IP video and security platform with the full line of MOBOTIX high-resolution video surveillance cameras. Over in Dorset, six CCTV cameras from Bosch Security Systems have been installed on the newly constructed Twin Sails Bridge in Poole to monitor all traffic and pedestrians, as well as vessels passing beneath the bridge.

In today’s news weekly round-up, a number of Bosch Security Systems 600 series DVRs have been installed at an attraction dedicated to the Beatles – the Beatles Story – so that images captured from the CCTV cameras can be more easily stored and accessed. The Beatles Story is the world’s leading Beatles-themed visitor attraction and is based in Liverpool, birthplace of the Beatles. Over in London, Urmet will be securing the first two residential buildings at the 67-acre King’s Cross Central development in London. Also in applications news, the new Valley Forge Casino has selected North American Video (NAV) to implement their video surveillance and security system. The casino, which opened in March 2012, chose NAV based on their proposal and extensive experience in designing and building network-based systems for casinos.

In events news, TKH Security Solutions has announced that it will participate in the Security Essen 2012 trade show taking place at the end of September. Over in Scotland, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) will be organising an open event, entitled “Scotland: Secure for Business”, in October to inform local businesses about security trends. Read more security news…

In today’s news round-up, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has published a guide which provides advice on the ways in which access control security systems can be used to reduce the environmental footprint of various companies. Orchard Fencing has suggested that businesses must take an integrated and intelligent approach to perimeter protection and has recommended perimeter security in a bid to stop criminals. Over in Bangkok, Bosch Security Systems has opened a new training centre. The Bosch Security Training Center (BOSTA) is equipped with a variety of the latest Bosch security and communication products to provide customers a hands-on and realistic training experience.

In applications news, VCA Technology video analytics software has been used to ensure the safety of football fans watching the recent Euro 2012 football matches. Alongside ARS Communications, who were contracted to build the temporary 120 thousand square metres Fan Zone at the Palace of Culture and Science in Parade Square, Warsaw, VCA Technology’s 44 GANZ encoders were used to count the number of people who entered and exited the Fan Zone, making sure that maximum safety capacity could be maintained. Lastly, Winsted has helped equip a police command centre at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth.
