In today’s news round-up, Arecont Vision megapixel cameras have been installed at Lotte Department Store in Busan, Korea to enable store management to control liability costs by refuting claims that customers’ cars were damaged while in the store’s parking area. In the UK, ASSA Abloy’s masterkey suite has been deployed to help restore the historic clock tower at Blair Castle to its former glory. Over in the city of Chomutov in the Czech Republic, IndigoVision’s IP Video technology has been installed as part of the city’s strategy to reduce crime and improve traffic flow monitoring.

In other news, to mark its tenth anniversary, IR imaging sensor manufacturer ULIS recently announced that it will invest EUR 20 million investment in a new state-of-the-art facility to meet increasing market demands for IR technology. Lastly, the Security Industry Association (SIA) has advised that biometric technology could provide a highly effective way to reduce fraud in the USA’s Medicare and Medicaid programs. In today’s news round-up, at the  2012 Electronic Security Expo (ESX) taking place in Nashville, USA, which concludes today, Altronix is showcasing its eBridge line of IP over Coax Adapters, a high-performance and cost-effective solution to transmit IP video and data over coaxial cable for distances greater than 2,000 feet without the need for repeaters. OnSSI is also at the show exhibiting its ground-breaking Ocularis-X technology in a powerful live demonstration. In corporate news, CORNELL has announced that it has forged a new distribution relationship with AIPHONE to be its primary and preferred distributor for both their NHX-Nurse Call System & their IS Series Rescue Assistance System.

In application news, the New York State Bridge Authority has chosen to deploy SightLogix’ video perimeter security system to secure the Bear Mountain Bridge, Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, Mid-Hudson Bridge, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge which together serve more than 1 million Hudson River crossings each week. In Brazil, Lumidigm recently announced that it is deploying fingerprint sensors into automated teller machines (ATMs) of one of Brazil’s largest state-owned banks via partners Diebold Brazil. On today’s news round-up, Malca-Amit UK, a leading provider of secure logistical solutions and full operational services for companies dealing with precious commodities, has deployed the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system at its new UK warehouse and corporate office to protect and safeguard its clients’ precious cargo. In Latin America, Itautec, a manufacturer/integrator of consumer electronics, banking and retail automation, is now deploying the first 12,000 units of a 33,000-unit ATM network with Lumidigm’s multispectral fingerprint readers for one of Latin America’s largest private banks. Over in Sardinia, IndigoVision has completed a security upgrade at the Villa Devoto, the seat of local government in Sardinia, which is also home to institutional office of the Sardinian President.

In other news, Hikvision has been named as the No.1 global vendor of CCTV and video surveillance equipment in 2011 in a recent IMS Research report. Avigilon has been named on the 2010 Red Herring 100 Global list, a prestigious list honouring the year’s most promising private ventures that are leading innovations around the world. Also receiving praise is VideoIQ, whose high definition dome camera has been selected as the 2011 Product of The Year at this year’s International Consumer Electronics show (CES).
