In today’s news round-up, CEM Systems’ emerald multifunctional touch screen terminal has been awarded 2014 Security’s Best Award in the ASIS Accolades Awards. emerald is a Touchscreen Reader, Door Controller, VOIP Intercom and System Terminal all in a single box. In application news, Hikvision has partnered with NexGen Integration to equip the U.S. Army with a comprehensive security system at Fort Leonard Wood military base. Hikvision’s 9000 series Hybrid DVRs, 6701 / 6704 encoder modules and iVMS-4200 software were all used within the system.

In corporate news, Axis Communications has been named as one of the best small and medium workplaces in the United States by Great Place to Work®. Ranked number 16, this is the first time Axis has received this honour. Over in the UK, ASSA ABLOY access and door control solutions are providing advanced security to the education sector. Recent successful specifications have included projects at universities in Oxford, Nottingham and Sheffield. In today’s news round-up, DVTEL is showcasing its ioimage HD CF-5222 and CF-5212 cameras at ASIS International 2014. The ioimage HD cameras include the benefits of DVTEL’s Quasar high-resolution, low-bandwidth and minimised and predictable storage and are optimised for outdoor and low-light conditions. In other events news, AMAG Technology has announced the release of its Symmetry V8 access control software. The unified security solution offers integrators and end users a solution to manage all their security functions seamlessly in one system through an intuitive user interface.

Also at ASIS, STANLEY Security division Sargent and Greenleaf (S&G) has introduced the 2890B Pedestrian Door Lock. The S&G Model 2890B PDL represents the latest design advances to produce a single motion egress door lock for the highest level of security. In corporate news, ASSA ABLOY brand UNION has become a sponsor of the National Home Security Month initiative. The nationwide initiative that runs throughout October features a series of hints and tips to highlight the ways homes can be kept safe during the darker evenings. Finally, the Guardian24 lone worker solution is protecting staff and volunteers at Macmillan Cancer Support. The Guardian24 app allows the lone working member of staff or volunteer to log into the system prior to each home/location visit, giving details of the address, who they are going to meet and the expected duration. In today’s news round-up, TDSi has announced the winners of its 2014 Partner Awards. Sovereign Fire and Security was named UK Platinum Partner of the Year while Romania-based Siel Invest was named as Export Partner of the Year. In events news, Teleste will exhibit its headend and CATV solutions at IBC2014 in Amsterdam from the 12th-16th September. Among the products being exhibited by Teleste are the Luminato headend platform and the Optimo encoding and transcoding solution.

In other events news, ASSA ABLOY UK will be showcasing its remote door opening solutions at this year’s Education Facilities Forum being held in Oxfordshire from the 17th-18th November 2014. Finally, G4S Technology recently hosted a roundtable discussion on systems integration within the security industry. Over in the UK, a team of 8 staff from Mayflex recently took part in a 23-mile trek along Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
