In today’s weekly news round-up, The Fortis Group has selected ASSA ABLOY brands Yale and UNION as its preferred suppliers of branded security. Fortis is working with ASSA ABLOY to offer a hardware and security portfolio which will include UNION’s StrongBOLT™ range and a streamlined Yale product portfolio that will include Yale’s Doormaster range. In other corporate news, VIVOTEK is now offering Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solutions to the surveillance market, including a wide range of PoE switches, PoE extenders, and PoE injectors.

In application news, Mul-T-Lock’s SMARTair™ electronic handle set has been installed at the Ellan Vannin Hotel on the Isle of Man. The hotel selected the solution to enable automatic updating of room access as and when guests arrive and leave, alongside managing staff access across the premises. In other application news, NICE Systems is helping Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) extend its situation management capabilities. Over in India, IndigoVision’s HD security solution has helped safeguard Vedanta Resources power plant. IndigoVision’s Enhanced HD Domes and Fixed Cameras now monitor the plant’s store rooms and entry/exit gates, while its Control Center video management software gives total visibility of the site.

In corporate news, an updated version of the ONVIF distance learning training course has been published on the Tavcom website. The free training course focuses on ONVIF-specific issues and includes new product and conformance process modules. Tri-Ed serves four major segments of the security business including video, access control, intrusion detection and fire/life safety. In today’s news round-up, IDIS and Security Supplies have signed a strategic partnership, under which Security Supplies will offer the IDIS DirectIP™ surveillance solution through its network of branches in the UK. The announcement follows DirectIP™ training for over twenty installers hosted at Security Supplies headquarters last month. In today’s weekly news round-up, MOBOTIX AG has provided Leeds City College with a security system which will help secure access to critical data centres and communication rooms across multiple sites. Twenty MOBOTIX cameras have so far been installed across college sites including a number of Q24 and Q25 hemispheric models. In corporate news, Dahua Technology has the 2nd largest market share in video surveillance according a report by IHS. Dahua’s global market share in terms of DVR and network security cameras were ranked as runner-up and 4th place respectively.

In today’s news round-up, ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has designed, manufactured and installed a range of security doors for projects across London. The projects include the installation of fire doorsets in the Shard and supplying the London Underground’s Bond Street Tube Station with its specialist steel doorsets. In corporate news, TDSi is looking towards the education sector as a market for expansion and growth. According to IMS Research, current estimates value the access control market for education in the EMEA region at £46M.

Over in Norway, law firm Simonsen VogtWiig is deploying the Zwipe biometric card for managing access to its doors and printers.
