In today’s weekly news round-up, Anixter has entered into an agreement to acquire Tri-Ed from Audax Group for a purchase price of $420 million. Tri-Ed serves four major segments of the security business including video, access control, intrusion detection and fire/life safety. In other corporate news, ONVIF is launching a proactive education and enforcement campaign to ensure that all claims of ONVIF conformance by manufacturers of IP-based physical security products are valid. The education and enforcement initiative aims to further protect the ONVIF brand and more pre-emptively monitor ONVIF’s copyrights, trademarks and logos on an ongoing basis.

On today’s news round-up, Anixter and Iomega will be bringing Iomega’s StoreCenter network storage products to the video surveillance market. Samsung has carried out saltwater tests on its external dome cameras to ensure they can withstand exposure when they are deployed as part of a port’s video surveillance system or are used for other security projects located close to the sea. Also in corporate news, Jon Pincus has recently joined Accellion, Inc. as Senior Vice President, Products. In this role, Pincus will oversee Engineering and Product Management for the company.
