In today’s news round-up, Nedap has been awarded a large-scale RFID roll-out in 19 countries by a major French sports retailer. The project, which is expected to be completed in early 2014, will involve the upgrading of all existing Nedap RF electronic article surveillance antennas to hybrid RF/RFID antennas. In application news, IQinVision HD megapixel cameras have been installed by REMA 1000, a multinational grocery chain headquartered Norway. So far, the installation has been carried out at six supermarket locations in the Norwegian city of Bergen and includes approximately 100 IQeye cameras.

In other application news, Securitec Systems has partnered with the professional security division of Samsung Techwin to provide a multipurpose Video over IP solution for next day delivery provider, APC Overnight. In addition to providing a powerful tool to minimise theft, the solution is being used by operational personnel to help track the movement of 1.5 million parcels each month. In corporate news, this year, Ovislink, the company behind AirLive, is celebrating two decades of operation. AirLive was launched dealing primarily in connectivity solutions however, in recent years the brand has also concentrated efforts on IP video surveillance, and Ovislink has become an internationally recognised manufacturer in both markets. In today’s news round-up, Samsung’s IP network video surveillance system has been deployed to secure Gingerbread Corner, a childcare centre in Croydon, Surrey. Samsung’s system replaces an existing outdated analogue CCTV system, with a total of 21 Samsung cameras installed, 16 of which are SND-3082 Day/Night network domes. The SND-3082 features Power over Ethernet (PoE), meaning that both power and video/audio transmissions can be provided via a single Ethernet cable connected to Gingerbread Corner’s network. In corporate news, Nedap recently featured its renowned AEOS training in Dubai Silicon Oasis, United Arab Emirates. Partners from within the GCC region participated in the training week to acquire the required certifications for their engineers and sales consultants. Nedap offers courses for anyone who uses, implements or sells AEOS Security Management systems.
