In today’s news round-up, IHS reported that global unit shipments of smart cards are expected to rise by 2.1 billion from 2014 through 2019 — about equal to the combined populations of China, the United States, Indonesia and Brazil. In application news, VIVOTEK IP cameras have been deployed in a factory based in India. A total of 96 IP cameras across 12 models were installed in the factory to help monitor entrance and exit points, as the vicinity sees a multitude of large trucks with trailers and other vehicles.

In events news, at the upcoming Security ESSEN tradeshow held in Germany, ABUS will be demonstrating a range of mechanical and electronic components; alarm systems and video surveillance are combined into integral security solutions. At ASIS International 2014, CNL Software will be showcasing the latest release of its IPSecurityCenter PSIM solution. The solution enhances business intelligence gathering: enabling the mapping of incident trends and ensuring the highlighting of weaknesses to inform future security investment. In today’s news round-up, Capital Fire and Security have installed an ACT access control solution at 4 New Square, a set of chambers for prominent barristers in London.  Using ACT’s proximity readers and door controllers, 4 New Square has added access control to over 100 doors. Over in Turkey, Brickcom network cameras have been incorporated as part of a IP video surveillance solution for  one of the biggest orthopaedic hospitals in Istanbul. The cameras are part of a larger installation covering several buildings of varying access levels.

In other application news, Wexham Park Hospital in Slough has recently implemented a wireless infant tagging and access control system from Reflex Systems to improve protection of parents and newborns. The system allows nurses to fit both mother and baby with matching RFID tags that provide 24 hour monitoring. Over in Kenya, SNB held a three-day training event in Nairobi. An AxxonSoft partner, SNB demonstrated AxxonSoft’s software for participants. Finally, ABUS Security-Center recently acquired TRIGRESS Security.
