In today’s weekly news round-up, Tyco Security Products has reached an agreement to acquire Exacq Technologies. The acquisition is expected to complement Tyco Security Products’ video technology portfolio while strengthening its presence in the video security market. In application news, Bosch Security Systems is supporting Milan’s new driverless metro line 5 with a security solution that combines video surveillance and public-address communication for managing passenger information and evacuation measures. The installation included 400 vandal resistant FlexiDome cameras, 10-bit digital processing technology, video and audio signal transmission encoders and ten iSCSI storage units.

In other application news, Dahua HD network cameras have been used to enhance security at BMCI bank in Morocco. Dahua megapixel HD network cameras were installed, as well as hybrid DVRs. In corporate news, new pan-European research commissioned by Security Products from Siemens has found that a clear majority of consumers do not believe that the widespread use of CCTV infringes on people’s civil liberties. Finally, Samsung Techwin has recently installed a security solution at Horwich Station, Lancashire, to continue to deter and detect anti-social behaviour, vandalism and other forms of criminal activity.
