In today’s news round-up, SourceSecurity.com was invited to the press unveiling of Western Digital’s newest storage product for the surveillance industry, WD Purple. With the launch of this product, Western Digital expressed its aim to become “The surveillance storage brand”.  In events news, Delta Scientific will be showcasing its new HD300 barrier at ISC West 2014. The HD300 – available with either a fully electric or hydraulic control unit - will stop a 15,000 pound (66.7 Km) vehicle traveling 50 mph (80 kpm).

Also at ISC West this year, CNL Software has announced that it will demonstrate its latest PSIM software alongside Pelco by Schneider as part of Pelco’s Partner First Program. In application news, VIVOTEK cameras have been chosen to help improve security in Arvaikheer City in Mongolia. Seventy-four VIVOTEK cameras including the SD8362E and SD8323E were chosen for their ability to withstand the harsh environmental conditions and cover the substantial 64km² area. Finally, a new report from IHS predicts rapid expansion in the semiconductor market thanks to increasing demand for vehicle safety features in the Chinese automotive market. Read more security news…
