In today’s weekly news round-up, Avigilon recently announced that it has acquired privately-held RedCloud Security, Inc. (RedCloud), an innovative provider of web-based, physical and virtual access control systems. Through the acquisition, Avigilon adds a complementary product line to its end-to-end high-definition surveillance solution and provides the company with access to a growing segment of the global security market. In other corporate news, MOBOTIX has had its seminar, “A vision of future proof digital CCTV” approved by The Construction CPD Certification Service. The seminar provides an overview of the key elements of modern CCTV systems and covers topics including decentralised technologies, sustainability and UK Home Office guidelines on identification standards.

In application news, Samsung’s IP network video surveillance system has been deployed to secure Gingerbread Corner, a childcare centre in Croydon, Surrey. Samsung’s system replaces an existing outdated analogue CCTV system, with a total of 21 Samsung cameras installed, 16 of which are SND-3082 Day/Night network domes. In events news, Milestone has held its annual Milestone Partner Open Platform (MPOP) event for the Middle East and Africa region in Abu Dhabi, with 250 attending. There were 26 alliance partner companies exhibiting in the Technology Showcase at the event with Diamond Sponsor IBM and Platinum Sponsors Arecont Vision and Razberi Technologies.
