In today’s news round-up, the dedication of 15 security professionals has been recognised in the national round of this year’s British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Security Personnel Awards, presented this month at the Association’s annual lunch in London. The awards categorised as: Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team were presented by Steve Rodhouse, Commander for Gang and Organised Crime for the Metropolitan Police. In application news, Trüb has been chosen to supply polycarbonate datapages for Malaysia’s next generation of e-passports. In a worldwide first, Trüb’s innovative ‘tru/vision solution is being used to implement true-colour UV security elements in the passports, strengthening the company’s position as a leading supplier of high-end polycarbonate identity documents.

In corporate news, Ingersoll Rand presented their “2013 Hospitality Security Technologies Research Report” at the Hospitality Security Status & Solutions Seminar in Beijing last month. The conference saw hotel designers, management and development companies discuss hotel security, choosing security products and industry standards. In events news, Clarion Events has announced further support for Security Technology Live 2014, taking place in Birmingham in May 2014. Companies continue to sign up to participate at the show and next year’s exhibitors will include Navtech Rader and Traders Warehouse. Finally, SANS Dubai 2013, the Gulf Region’s largest InfoSec training event has opened for online registration. The event will be held at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah resort and will feature a roster of courses covering hacker techniques, incident handling, and computer forensic investigations.
