In application news, Milestone video surveillance software is helping to manage traffic activities in Galway City, Ireland. Galway City Council has deployed Milestone XProtect Smart Client to manage all cameras across a large video wall, including pant-tilt-zoom (PTZ) control and zoom for detailed views of live and recorded video. In today’s news round-up, AxxonSoft and Grand Prix have installed security and video management systems at a Russian factory of Oriflame, a leading cosmetics manufacturer. The factory required a flexible, scalable, and geographically distributed video management system and AxxonSoft’s Intellect PSIM met these requirements. In application news, TDSi’s access control and security systems have been deployed by Global Entertainment Consortium, Rubicon Group Holding (RGH), to secure its central server facility in Amman, Jordan. A MICROgarde controller and two EXprox readers were installed, securing access to the server room and monitoring the flow of individuals entering and exiting the building.

In today’s news round-up, video management software from Aimetis has been deployed at Perth Airport. Aimetis Symphony provides the airport with a single platform for upgrading the existing analogue CCTV system to operate over an IP network, as well as a scalable system allowing new cameras to be added as required. In other application news, IQinVision has recently announced that Woonstad Rotterdam Housing Corporation in the Netherlands is using IQinVision HD megapixel cameras for enhanced security at its housing estates. For this project, the company has 39 sites under surveillance, each with approximately five cameras placed at strategic locations both inside and outside the housing units.

In corporate news, LEGIC Identsystems AG has gained another strong partner from China, Shanghai Airlink Technologies. The system integrator specialises in developing security solutions, in particular CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems. In other corporate news, AxxonSoft has recently joined with its Spanish partner and distributor, Hommax Sistemas, to hold their first-ever series of seminars on AxxonSoft software. The British Security Industry Association has awarded former chairman Julie Kenny for her contribution to the security industry. In today’s weekly news round-up, Panasonic has acquired Cameramanager.com. The acquisition of the cloud-based video solutions company reinforces Panasonic’s existing security business as it looks to extend its cloud-based solutions to the business and consumer markets. In other news from Panasonic, it was announced this week that their cameras were used to film the pioneering Channel 4 documentary “The Murder Trial”. This marks the first time that remotely-operated cameras have been placed inside a British criminal court to capture a criminal trial in its entirety and the AW-HE120 PTZ cameras were chosen due to their compact and discreet design, silent operation and wide range of focal angles and distances. In application news, ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio wireless locking solution has been fitted as part of an access control solution at Thames Reach’s Employment Academy in London. One of the challenges ASSA ABLOY had to overcome in the project was preserving the aesthetic of the Grade II listed Victorian building, whilst still providing a practical and effective security solution.

In corporate news, Oncam Grandeye has announced that its OnVu360 surveillance app has been downloaded more than 10,000 times since its release in November 2012.
