First up, there is a new head of UK sales as Bosch who will be whipping up sales for Bosch surveillance solutions as he brings considerable industry experience to the team. Concept Smoke Screen’s intruder solution is unveiled as a contender for a coveted IFSEC award at this year’s show.
In Norway’s surveillance market there is a new player in the way of Basler. In a bid to make its mark on the market Basler has signed a deal with Last Mile Communication an IP network and video surveillance distributor.
It’s a win for the European ATM Security Team as there effort produce a 36 per cent reduction in ATM fraud losses.
The last note comes from AD Group who are doing their bit for the Forever Manchester charity. AD Group buys ‘virtual’ Manchester Town Hall for £25k to back the charity initiative.

First up, BSIA hits back at Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson regarding a recent comment he made in his Sunday Times column describing security officers are a “waste of time”.
In tradeshow news, QNAP has announced that it will be showcasing its Network video recorder solutions at the upcoming SecuTech Expo 2010. At the IFSEC Exhibition executives of some of the world’s leading suppliers of security products will present cutting-edge technology and discuss industry trends at the “Secure the World with Taiwan Security Products” press conference. For those interested in mobile solutions, West & Central Africa Com 2010 will be the place to be for all things wireless.
To wrap up, Remote Video Response is offering to extends its surveillance training services to third parties. It will train local authorities, private companies and other remote video response centres.

First up G4s Wackenhut, manned security services provider is changing its name to G4S to reflect the company’s vision of providing comprehensive security solutions. Xtralis looks to develop new business opportunities with the appointment of VP of Sales for Europe, Mike Goodfellow. Integration is on the cards as CNL and Geoquip join forces to ensure Geoquip products such as Defensor are certified to work with CNL’s IPSecurityCenter software. Infinias has also announced the signing of Security Equipment Supply, Inc. (SES), Earth City, Missouri, as a distributor for the Intelli-M access control products in the United States.
Lastly, on the application side IndigoVision IP surveillance system is chosen by Moroccan manufacturer – Prodec to monitor its factory and HQ in Casablanca and its branch network throughout Morocco.

Breaking away from our diet of tradeshow news, today we have an offering of applications for you to keep in the know.
First up, its Bosch’s installation of AEGIS CCTV infrared illuminators at the BBC. As a seasoned supported of a number of BBC natural history documentaries, in the recent installation for the Great Rift documentary, the BBC crew used Bosch CCTV lighting to help them film inside lava tubes. To curb incidents during match games Axis’ network IP solution was chosen to be installed at the Castleford Tigers Rugby League Football Club. In Sheffield College it was ACT’s door controllers that proved to be the solution of choice for secure access control.
In the world of corporate security Axxon has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Polish security products distributor Nuxxe. This follows its strategy to expand its geographical reach through a mix of sales offices and distribution agreements throughout the region and into the Americas later this year. And finally, Optelecom-NKF’s seeks to facilitate better service for customers throughout Britain and Ireland with the addition of Anixter International UK as its distributor.

As the focus for news this week has been on upcoming tradeshows, we end the working week with an announcement from ISC West inaugural charity 5K run in Las Vegas. The 5K/Mission 500 Charity Run raised more than $30,000 to benefit Mission 500, a charitable organisation engaging security professionals to sponsor children in need through the World Vision organisation.
At the recent Secur 2010 tradeshow in Madrid, IndigoVision showcased its revolutionary ‘Green’ Network Video Recorders (NVRs). They also launched their IP security seminars in the country and have planed to offer end user the opportunity to attend another upcoming seminar in Paris.
As the political parties gear up for the elections of the future government, the BSIA is urging the major political parties to engage with the security industry and consider its needs as part of their election manifestos in the run up to 6th May.
Lastly, In the US the Department of Homeland Security Secretary scheduled to visit Spain to discuss aviation security initiative.

It’s Wednesday and today we have an interesting mix of news to keep you in the know…
First up some pre-IFSEC 2010 updates:
Commend UK have announced that they are to showcase their intercom security solution at the show. ACT will be one of seven companies exhibiting their integrated solution in the brand new Intelligent Integration Zone, introduced to allow visitors to observe active integration.
Another security show that proved to be a big hit with businesses is the Manchester Security 2010 show. The event brought together businesses to examine issues of security, counter-terrorism and business continuity.
At the HOSDB exhibition held last month Vicon’s surveillance system attracted a large number of visitors, many of whom were particularly interested in the company’s video management systems for police custody suites and prisons.
To the happy ending, IndigoVision reports very promising half yearly financial results. It saw an increase in sales revenues of 12% to £12.0m ($18.0m) for the 6-month period ending 31 January 2010.

To begin the four-day working week, we have news pre-IFSEC updates and some corporate news bites.
As the much awaited IFSEC show approaches (only six-weeks away!) infinova has announced that it will introduce its new V1720N-M series high speed indoor IP PTZ dome camera, which integrators can provide customers wanting an easy transition from analogue CCTV systems to IP-based digital video surveillance solutions. Sticking with infinova, it has also recruited a new sales manager for its Eastern Region security division.
Also at the IFSEC show IDL will be exhibiting its new Fastlane Glassgate 250, entrance control system.
Moving on to aviation security the US Department of Homeland Security and Mexican counterparts have signed an agreement to enhance border controls.
